Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies maintained their top position on the Hollywoodbets Super League log despite dropping two points away at TS Galaxy Queens on Sunday.

Sundowns were made to labour for the opener which came 10 minutes in the second half from Andisiwe Mgcoyi as the two star-studded sides faced off at the Solomon Mahlangu stadium.

However it was Banyana Banyana stalwart Mamello Makhabane who had the final say in the tie as she converted a penalty in injury-time to dent the defending champions’ perfect start to the campaign.

Sundowns now have 13 points in five matches while the Queens dropped to sixth place on the table with eight points from the same number of games.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) continued their good form as they thrashed Thunderbirds Ladies 4-1 in Pretoria. The Shamase twins S’phumelele and Thubelihle both registered goals, while the other two came from Shannon Macomo and Refilwe Maseko.

Nthabeleng Modiko’s charges remain in third place on the standings with 12 points from five outings, while the Eastern Cape-based outfit dropped to 15th spot with just two points also from five matches.

Elsewhere Durban Ladies jumped up four places on the log to fourth following their 4-1 victory over First Touch Academy at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Durban Ladies have accumulated nine points in five outings while the Limpopo side dropped to 13th place with two points from five matches.
