South African winger Tashreeq Matthews has completed a switch to a new club in Europe.
The 21-year-old has joined Swedish Allsvenskan side IK Sirius on a four-year deal after parting ways with Varbergs BoIs.
Since joining Varbergs in 2020, Matthews played 60 league games, scoring eight goals and assisting another nine strikes.
“What attracted me to the club was their philosophy of the game and their way of playing,” Matthews explained after being officially unveiled by Sirius.
“In addition, I was attracted to how they play forward, create chances and how they work to own possession.”
He could make his debut when Sirius take on Helsingborg in the league this coming Saturday.
This is the attacker’s third club overseas. He was previously in the books of German giants Borussia Dortmund and most recently Varbergs.
