Domestic Worker Elopes With R120 000 And Leaves An Apology Note

A domestic worker is on the run after allegedly stealing R120,000 from the family who employed her, leaving a note saying “she was sorry.”

A family in Modimolle, Limpopo, has opened a theft case against their domestic worker, who allegedly fled the scene on Sunday after stealing R120,000 from the family’s safe, according to the SABC news.

Mathiba Phasha, a family representative, said they had tried unsuccessfully to contact her on her cellphone.

“It was a surprise for us that she actually stole from us. We couldn’t locate her, unfortunately, by then she was already gone.”

The family has since opened a case at the Modimolle police station with hope that the police will speedily assist them by arresting and prosecuting her.

The domestic worker, who allegedly left a note saying she was sorry, was hired by the family through an agent in May of last year.

The family had gone to church and left the domestic worker alone when the incident occurred, according to reports.

Limpopo Spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo said,“We can confirm that the police are investigating a case of theft, after a helper allegedly stole some items from the house she was working in and disappeared,”

The suspect has yet to be caught, and police are conducting additional investigations.
