Dolly On Guard Of Honour Debate

Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has discussed the much-talked about ‘Guard of Honour’ topic ahead of Sunday’s clash with newly crowned DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Dolly, 29, has been one of the standout performers in local football this season, scoring eight goals for the Glamour Boys.

On Sunday, Dolly and Chiefs will host his former side, who have already secured their fifth successive league title and many fans are wondering whether Amakhosi will give Masandawana a Guard of Honour – like Sekhukhune United did on Tuesday.

Dolly, however, insisted that it is for the club’s leadership to decide whether the team will pay their respects to Downs or not, while the players will focus on their job on the pitch.

“I think the Guard of Honour is not for us as players [to decide], the office will handle that and we will listen to what the office wants us to do and we’ll have to do it,” he said on Thursday.

“For us, it’s not to focus on that. We focus on the game and try to win the game.

“Obviously they are in good spirits, they won the league, but for us it’s not to focus on Sundowns or whatever happens outside the field. It’s just to focus on the performance and give maximum points.”

Chiefs take on Sundowns at 15:00 at the FNB Stadium on Sunday and fans can secure their tickets at www.ticketmaster.co.za or Computicket outlets at Checkers and Shoprite stores at R70 per ticket.
