Grammy-winning global star Doja Cat is officially heading to South Africa for the first time, after being unveiled as the headlining act for Global Citizen’s Move Afrika 2026 tour.

Now in its third year, the pan-African initiative will kick off with Move Afrika: Kigali at BK Arena on 17 March before landing in Pretoria at the SunBet Arena on 20 March.

The tour continues to expand its footprint across the continent, positioning Africa as a key player on the global touring circuit while creating employment and investment opportunities within local creative industries.

For Doja Cat, the moment carries personal meaning.

“From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This isn’t just a tour; it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last,” she said.

“I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming; it’s already here.”

Move Afrika was launched with a long-term vision to build the first large-scale, pan-African music touring circuit driven by international talent but rooted in local impact.

Beyond the performances, the project focuses on skills development, job creation and strengthening Africa’s creative economy in every host city.

Global Citizen co-founder and CEO Hugh Evans praised the artist’s continued commitment to the organisation’s mission.

“We are honoured to welcome Doja Cat as the headliner for Move Afrika 2026,” he said.

“She has delivered unforgettable performances at some of Global Citizen’s most defining moments, from Paris to New York to the historic Fifa Club World Cup final halftime show. Now she joins us as we expand across the continent, from Johannesburg to Accra, Kigali to Lagos, and now Pretoria.

“Move Afrika is redefining global touring by placing Africa’s creative excellence at the centre of the international circuit, creating jobs, strengthening local creative industries, and driving long-term economic growth powered by culture.”

The initiative is delivered in partnership with PG Lang and Kendrick Lamar, further cementing its influence in shaping a new era of global touring that prioritises African stages.

Rwanda Development Board CEO Jean-Guy Afrika also welcomed the tour’s return to Kigali, describing it as a reflection of Rwanda’s ambition to become a leading destination for live entertainment while unlocking opportunities for young people across the region.

Tickets for the Pretoria show go on sale to the general public at 9am on 18 February via Ticketmaster.

Mastercard holders can access a presale from 9am on 16 February until 8.59am on 18 February, while World and World Elite Mastercard cardholders will have preferred access to selected tickets from 9am on 18 February.

The Big Concerts Fan Club presale opens at 9am on 17 February and runs until 8.59am on 18 February.
