Doc Questions Chiefs Players After MTN8 Exit

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has questioned the quality of the current crop of Amakhosi players after they were knocked out from the MTN8 competition.

Chiefs were eliminated from the competition on Sunday after a goalless draw against Usuthu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, meaning the home side progressed based on the away goal they scored in the 1-1 draw in the semi-final first leg.

After the match, Khumalo asked where were the Chiefs players to make a difference, why did none of their star players step like in previous times?

“Do you have the players that can take the team to another level? Who was the individual that said, ‘you know what it’s 0-0, let me take it on,” he said on SABC Sport.

“Kaizer Chiefs used to have an Ace Ntsoleng, Teenage Dladla, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Jabu Mahlangu, Doctor Khumalo, you name them…

“But in this regard, is there any player like that?

“This is Kaizer Chiefs! … if you don’t know it. If you don’t know? Ask, those who’ve been, then they will tell you what it takes to wear that jersey.

“You don’t just come in there because you want to be seen in the Kaizer Chiefs badge. What it means most is the people who are at the stadium and at home, just put a smile on their face.”

AmaZulu will now face Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final on 5 November at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
