Dlamini Points Out AmaZulu’s Main Problem

AmaZulu coach Ayanda Dlamini says he is sick and tired of seeing his side conceded early and having to come from behind in matches, insisting it cannot continue like this.

In Dlamini’s two matches in charge, Usuthu have shipped four goals and were forced to come back to try and salvage points.

It worked against Cape Town City, in what was Dlamini’s first match in charge after head coach Romain Folz was redeployed to be president’s advisor, when they came back from two goals down to get a point.

Against SuperSport United this past weekend, Usuthu started again all over the place, letting in two goals and were forced to chase the game. But on this occasion, it was not to be as the wily old fox Gavin Hunt was able to shut the back door and walk away with all the three points.

They host Sekhukhune United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (20:00) and Dlamini says they cannot fall behind to two goals again, adding they need to take the game to their opposition.

“The first thing we don’t have to do is come back,” said Dlamini.

“We don’t have to come back from 2-0 down and I think we have let ourselves down in that aspect. We allowed teams to get goals and then we reacted and we have seen for the past two games how we fight after we have conceded.

“We just need to start with that momentum and get early goals and see how the other team will react. I have said to the players we are a team that is capable of scoring goals, but if we make sure that defensively we are very tight we will be fine.”

The commitment of AmaZulu players was questionable when they lost to SuperSport and Dlamini was asked, if the players know how privileged they are to be playing for the oldest club in the PSL.

“This is a big team, with a lot of history. If you wear this green jersey of AmaZulu, you should go there and be a warrior, fight for the badge,” said Dlamini.

AmaZulu’s tasks won’t get easier, as they now host in-form Sekhukhune, meaning they will have to be at their best to beat them at home, having last won a home match when they crushed Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in January.
