DJ Zinhle – “I am not ready for Durban”

DJ Zinhle Expresses Emotional Struggles and Unwillingness to Visit Durban!

DJ Zinhle, a well-known South African DJ, is currently not prepared to visit Durban following the tragic death of her former partner and the father of her child, Kiernan AKA Forbes.

AKA was fatally shot in Durban on February 10, 2023.

Despite their separation, DJ Zinhle and AKA had maintained a loving co-parenting relationship for their daughter, Kairo Forbes. However, the untimely loss of her ex-lover has deeply affected DJ Zinhle, making it challenging for her to consider returning to Durban, particularly for professional commitments.

Although she was scheduled to perform at the Fact Durban Rocks event during the Durban July, DJ Zinhle has decided to alter her plans due to her current emotional state.

In a heartfelt statement, she shared that she is not emotionally prepared to be in Durban.

“I want to be honest with all of you; I am not ready for Durban. Emotionally, I am far from ready. The mere thought of being in Durban brings about anxiety. It will take some time before I can face being in Durban again,” she expressed.

DJ Zinhle emphasized that her decision is not rooted in any animosity towards Durban but rather stems from the immense difficulty she is currently experiencing.

Given that only three months have passed since Kiernan’s passing, she hopes that with time, her feelings may change. However, she also expressed a desire that her reluctance to visit Durban remains unchanged.

The upcoming Father’s Day poses a further challenge for DJ Zinhle as she contemplates how to navigate the occasion with her daughter.

She wondered aloud, “What am I going to say to Kairo on Father’s Day?”
