Media personality and businessman Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock will be laid to rest in Rosebank, Johannesburg on Tuesday, following his fatal shooting in the Johannesburg CBD last week.

His memorial service was held last Friday, with colleagues and friends expressing their struggle to come to terms with his tragic death.

Police have confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.

The suspects are expected to be formally charged with murder and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Shot and killed

DJ Warras, who was well known for his work in media and business, was shot and killed while working in the inner city, an area he had previously spoken about candidly.

Stock described Hillbrow – a suburb plagued by hijacked buildings and criminal syndicates – as a “jungle,” highlighting the dangerous conditions faced by residents and workers in parts of Johannesburg’s inner city.

His death has once again drawn attention to ongoing concerns around crime, safety and lawlessness in hijacked buildings across the CBD, with calls intensifying for stronger law enforcement and accountability.

Investigations into the murder are continuing, and police have not ruled out further arrests.
