DJ Warras murder accused denied bail

The man accused of involvement in the killing of media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock will remain in custody after the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court denied his bail application.

DJ Warras was shot and killed outside a building in Johannesburg last month, an incident that sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and among his supporters.

Concerns

The court heard arguments from the State opposing bail, citing concerns that the accused, Victor Majola, could interfere with witnesses and evade trial if released.

The magistrate ultimately ruled that the accused should remain in custody pending further court proceedings on Wednesday, 11 February.

Pose serious risks

Earlier, DJ Warras’s mother, Beverly Stock, said that she believed granting bail would pose serious risks.

“I am very much agreeing with how the state presented their case that the accused would present a danger if he is let out on bail. He would intimidate witnesses and because I, myself, am from rural KZN, I know that he would be a flight risk and we would never find him in the foothills of KwaZulu-Natal,” she said.

The case has been postponed to a later date as investigations continue.

Police have not yet disclosed further details surrounding the motive for the killing, while the family continues to call for justice for the slain media personality.
