DJ Warras slams Durban cops over alleged drug ties
DJ Warras has stirred controversy online after alleging that some Durban police officers are being paid off by drug dealers and criminals.
During a recent episode of Podcast Party SA, the outspoken media personality didn’t hold back, taking direct aim at law enforcement in the city and calling out President Cyril Ramaphosa’s leadership.
According to Warras, Durban’s Point area has long been plagued by drug activity, and he believes the authorities are intentionally turning a blind eye.
“If you’ve been to Durban and you go to Point, it’s been overrun… heavy Nigerian presence. It’s well known that there’s drugs that move there, well known that there’s other crimes, and those police that we spoke about that are on the levels E and D are well paid by these guys to leave them alone,” he said in a widely circulated clip.
He went on to applaud General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and his team for standing firm against corruption, saying, “When they come in there, there’s no talk of bribes. There’s no talk of ‘we’ll pay you to go away’. They clean up.”
Warras also took a jab at President Ramaphosa, criticising his decision to launch a commission of inquiry in response to the explosive claims made by Mkhwanazi, rather than taking swift action.
“The man is saying he’s got the WhatsApp conversations between him and this individual, and the answer by Number 1 and our government is, ‘Let us discuss it over the next six months.’ What the hell?”
He then raised eyebrows by questioning how police were suddenly making progress on unsolved cases, like the murder of DJ Sumbody.
“In the last six days, that matter has turned into murderers we couldn’t catch for years… now three or four of them have been arrested. Did they just happen upon this information, like all of it? Did police really get good at doing their jobs in the last 6 days? I refuse to believe.”
[OPEN SECRET] “Police officers are well paid by the drug lords to leave them alone., that’s why crime is ALLOWED to continue the way it is continuing.” 🎯
