DJ Tira under fire for ‘disrespectful’ comment about Mampintsha’s father

DJ Tira dragged for disrespecting Mampintsha’s father

DJ Tira lands in hot water for remarks that have sparked outrage from the families of late Big Nuz star Mampintsha and his widow, Babes Wodumo.

In a video posted on his exclusive content platform, DJ Tira’s World, the Afrotainment boss recalled a moment where he allegedly saw Mampintsha’s father selling CDs of his son’s music on the street.

He said: “Yaz sibone ubaba ka Mampintsha adayisa ama CD yenye i-album ka Mampintsha emgaqweni and we thought eish sishaywe uTouch emaphakhatheni wethu.” (“We saw Mampintsha’s father selling CDs of one of Mampintsha’s albums on the street and we thought, ‘Oh, we were touched to go into our pockets and help’.”)

The video has not sat well with Mampintsha’s family, who see the comments as humiliating and insensitive.

A source close to the Maphumulo and Simelane families said the statement was hurtful, especially considering how much Mampintsha had done for DJ Tira’s brand.

“A lot of us had to attack him because what he did was inhuman. Mampintsha made him millions. Is this the thanks his family gets? This guy needs to refrain from using Mampintsha’s name, period,” said the source, slamming DJ Tira for allegedly using the late star’s name for clout.

According to those close to Babes, she has chosen to remain silent publicly, but behind the scenes, she is said to be deeply hurt by what she sees as continued disrespect towards her late husband.

This latest episode adds fuel to already simmering tensions between DJ Tira and the families.

Just two months ago, Babes called him out online, asking that she be included in any tributes or projects done in Mampintsha’s name.
