The family of Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, has finally broken their silence following the arrest of four suspects linked to his murder.

DJ Sumbody was shot and killed in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on November 20, 2022, in a drive-by shooting.

“WE ARE RELIVING THE TRAUMA,” SAYS THE FAMILY

The Sefoka family released a heartfelt statement through the Be A Sumbody Foundation, addressing the painful developments and thanking those who’ve supported them since 2022.

“The arrest is a step toward justice, but we’re reliving the trauma of his untimely passing,” said the family.

They stressed how painful this chapter remains for the Sefoka family and urged the public and media to respect their space.

SEFAKO THANKS THE POLICE FOR THEIR EFFORTS

The family commended the South African Police Service, especially Gauteng’s Organised Crime Unit and Political Task Team, for their commitment.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the South African Police Service, particularly the Gauteng organised crime unit and the political task team, for their relentless efforts in pursuing justice,” the family expressed in their statement.

“The dedication of law enforcement has been instrumental in this case, and we remain hopeful for a thorough legal process.

“We also wish to thank South Africans, patriots, and supporters of DJ Sumbody and the foundation for their unwavering love, prayers, and solidarity. Your continued support has been a source of strength for the family.”

SUSPECTS APPEAR IN COURT

The four suspects briefly appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The murder case was postponed for further investigation.

They are facing three murder charges related to the killing of DJ Sumbody and his two bodyguards in November 2022.
