During a recent testimony, suspended Ekurhuleni legal head advocate Kemi Behari stated that DJ Sbu, whose real name is Sbusiso Leope, and his business associate Thembinkosi TK Nciza were among the individuals who unduly benefitted from more than R100 million in grants from the City of Ekurhuleni.

The claims formed part of a wider investigation into governance failures and financial irregularities within the metro.

As reported by Briefly News, DJ Sbu has since come out to flatly deny the allegations and to label them as defamatory.

Taking to his social media, he released a statement describing the claims as false and misleading.

“I categorically deny any involvement in wrongdoing, misconduct, or unethical activity of any kind,” he penned.

He also expressed that he would pursue legal action should his reputation be harmed in any manner.

“I am deeply concerned that these allegations appear to be part of an attempt to divert attention from ongoing internal matters and personal accountability issues by creating false narratives involving respected public figures,” he added.

Moreover, he expressed confidence in truth, due process and transparency ultimately prevailing.

DJ Sbu also urged the public, media and stakeholders to exercise caution, verify facts and avoid amplifying unverified claims that serve to mislead and harm innocent parties.
