DISRESPECT! Somizi provokes his co-judges Thembi and JR, and accuses them of being bad judges

South Africa’s biggest singing competition Idols SA is topping the trends after airing its latest episode at the Hatfield Arena, heralding a phase that is expected to be more challenging for competitors. Idols SA is slowly becoming a must-watch show due to its drama and controversy. The new panel of judges are constantly making headlines each time they are on air, and Mzansi love to hate them. Last Sunday, Somizi was accused of being challenged by Thembi Seete’s presence as his co-judge as she is stealing his light with her excellent fashion sense, drawing the crowd’s attention.

Well, the controversy between the judges is becoming more severe after what happened in the latest episode of Idols SA. The contestants performed songs under the theme “Show Stopping, which means dancing and singing at the same time” well, the contestants understood the assignment and delivered their best perfomances. However, Noxolo showed off her best vocals and avoided the dancing part. Thembi Seete and JR Bogopa commented that Noxolo did well by avoiding dancing, something she was uncomfortable doing. Somizi then provoked their comments and gave them a lecture about judging.

Thembi Seete comment:

Noxolo well done. Thank you for taking care of those keys, it’s not easy it takes a lof hard work to get the keys rights and thats how you set the standards and the bars of the performance and l enjoyed how you make sure you are taking care of your vocals. l enjoyed this performance baby welldone!

Somizi provokes co-judges Thembi and JR

JRs comment:

Being a perfoming artist comes with knowing your limits, what you are good at and what you are comfortable with. It’s not about putting yourself in a position where you are uncomfortable because your audience can see it. You put yourself in a comfortable zone, you knew u were not into dancing and you delevered a powerful performance. You commanded it like a fully professional artist.

Somizi reminded Thembi and JR that they are new judges who don’t have rich experience in judging. He also taught them how the contestants should perform out of their comfort zone to deliver the best staging. Talking to Thembi and JR, he said:

Here is the thing JR and Thembi l have been here for 85 years, the competition is supposed to put you out of your comfort zone. You are supposed to do things that you have never done before and that’s why l was moved by Kapelo’s performance because he went out of his comfort zone which you did not do. I Somizi judging from the shows theme your perfomance was poor.

Somizi’s tutorial lessons to Thembi and JR got Mzansi talking and took it to Twitter to analyse if his teaching was necessary. Well, Mzansi feels that Somizi should have given his fellow judges some tips after the show not to disrespect them while on set. Others pointed out that Somizi is hungry for power and authority, leading him to disrespect his fellow judges.
