Did you know that Mpumi from Lingashoni is younger than NJ in real life?

When Lingashoni debuted on our screens, viewers were introduced to the Cele family, which was filled with betrayal. Mandla and Puleng Cele, were blessed with two children, Mpumi and Njabulo, whom they nickname NJ. At the beginning of the series, their father’s live towards Mpumi more than NJ was clear, but that only brought the siblings closer.

Mpumi is a rebel child who wants to chase her happiness above anything else and was a spelling bee when she was younger. As she got older, she followed her heart when it came to love, which also aligned with what was suitable for the family. This has her marrying into the Nondumo family and becoming their only daughter-in-law.

On the other hand, NJ grew up liking ballet to his father’s disgust, who wanted him to play soccer like other boys. He felt the void of having a father who did not support his way of life from a young age till he grew up. When Mandla found out his son was gay, he was angry and did not approve for a long time. However, his mind changed with time, and he eventually accepted his son’s sexuality.

In the series, Mpumi is Cele’s first child, making her older than Njabulo, and she takes on the role fluently. They both portray people in their twenties focusing on their careers and starting a new family. However, this is not the case in real life, as those are not their ages.

Mpumi is played by Lerato Nxumalo, who is still a rising actress and known for her role in Durban Gen. NJ is brought to life by Fanele Zulu, popularly known as Zulu black and an actor who was in Durban Gen as well playing Dr Mqoqi. Fanele is in his mid-twenties, while Lerato is in her early twenties in real life, making him the older one.
