A delivery driver in Montclair, Cape Town, was making deliveries when four men approached and pointed a gun at him.

According to Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, the men threatened the driver, took his cellphone and bank cards, and tried to steal his vehicle.

During the struggle, the driver pulled out his gun and fired several shots, killing two of the men. The other two suspects ran away.

Police are investigating the incident.

“The suspects were likely trying to hijack the vehicle and rob the driver. The police found a toy gun at the scene, which will be used as evidence,” Van Wyk said.

Nozipho Dukana, a 40-year-old resident, said she would have done the same thing in the driver’s position.

“It’s time for victims to fight back. If you have a gun and your life is in danger, you should shoot first to protect yourself. We’ve lost too many people to hijackers,” Dukana said.
