When it comes to chocolate treats, brownies are a true classic. There are so many variations that you can choose from too, like the crunchy versions or soft and gooey. These delicious chocolate brownies are similar to cake and still provide you with the opportunity for creativity and experimentation. These brownies are also smothered in a chocolate sauce that soaks into the cake and enhances the richness and flavours before you even think about adding extras.

Delicious chocolate brownies tips
This straight-forward recipe is very similar to making a cake but you can still add some chocolate chips or nuts to or on top of the mixture. If you want to enhance the chocolate flavour in the sauce even more, a shot of espresso won’t turn it into a mocha brownie, but elevate the chocolate flavour even more. Serve your chocolate brownies with some ice cream or cream along with some nuts or chocolate chips, and a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Amazing chocolate brownie recipe the whole family will love
Ingredients
-
2 cups 2 flour
-
2 cups 2 sugar
-
250 g 250 butter
-
1/2 cup 1/2 oil
-
1 cup 1 water
-
1/4 cup 1/4 cocoa
-
2 2 eggs (slightly beaten)
-
1/2 cup 1/2 buttermilk
-
1 tsp 1 bicarbonate of soda
-
1 tsp 1 vanilla essence
- Topping
-
2 tbsp 2 cocoa
-
2 tbsp 2 buttermilk
-
1 tsp 1 vanilla essence
-
500 g 500 Icing sugar
Method
- Preheat your oven to 200°C.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and form a crater in the middle.
- Place the butter, oil, water, and cocoa in a pot and bring to the boil. Remove from heat and pour over the dry ingredients.
- Add the eggs, buttermilk, bicarb and vanilla essence and blend into the cake mixture by hand until all the ingredients have been thoroughly mixed in.
- Prepare a square baking tin by greasing it or by using a cooking spray. The size of the baking tin depends on the depth you would like the cake to be. If you use a 28cm x 38 cm tin, your brownies should come out about 2.5cm high. If you use a smaller tin, then the brownies should come out taller.
- Pour your mixed batter into the baking tin making sure it covers the whole surface of the tin.
- Pop into the oven and bake for 20 minutes at 200°C.
- Prepare the topping by heating all of the topping ingredients on the stove, except the icing sugar. Slowly add the icing sugar about 100g at a time. Continue with this until all the icing sugar has been added. It should have a pouring constituency.
- Pour the heated topping over the brownies while they are still hot and ensure the topping covers the whole surface.
- Let the cake cool then cut to the size you want. 30 x 30 mm squares you should get around 30 brownies.
