De Sa & Queiroz For Egypt Return?

While Pitso Mosimane leaves Al Ahly and Egypt, another South African coach could be returning to the land of the Pharaohs.

Word reaching iDiski Times is that the Egyptian Football Association are looking to try and convince Carlos Queiroz and Roger De Sa to return to the national team fold.

Queiroz and De Sa had been in charge of the Pharaohs until they lost out in the World Cup qualifiers to Senegal in March, where a penalty shootout ended their hopes of going to Qatar.

The duo had earlier led Egypt to the Africa Cup of Nations final in Cameroon, where they lost out to the same opponents, also via a shootout.

Former Pyramids coach Ehab Galal took over in April, but things have not gone smoothly for the national team since. While they won their opening Afcon qualifier against Guinea by a narrow 1-0 margin, they lost their second match, 2-0 away to Ethiopia, and then were humbled in a friendly international against South Korea, losing 4-1.

Now a source has told iDiski Times, that the powers-that-be are trying to convince Queiroz and De Sa to return and continue what they were building.

“Egypt are aggressively pursuing Queiroz and De Sa to return,” the source said.

“There are three months until the next qualifiers in September, and they are hoping to convince them to return.”

Under Queiroz, the North African giants went to the AFCON final, FIFA Arab Cup semi-finals and missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the playoffs on penalties against Senegal.
