Maritzburg United head coach Fadlu Davids has made a plea to Golden Arrows and Swallows FC ahead of their final games of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign.

His side kept their chances of surviving alive after playing a 1-1 draw against 2022/23 DStv Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday.

The Team of Choice came to this game, needing at least a draw to jump off the foot of the table and the equaliser by Venezuelan forward Jose Ali Meza secured them that one point.

The team from eMgungundlovu managed to get a draw, which took them off the bottom of the table to 30 points, which might be enough for them to survive axe depending on the last day of the season.

Maritzburg’s draw saw Chippa United fall into 16th place, while Gallants moved into 15th, both with 29 points and Davids insisting their opponents on Saturday, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Swallows need to be professional about how they approach the games.

“Golden Arrows players are under scrutiny and of course Marumo Gallants playing Swallows, their players will have to play on their toes, they will have to be professional,” Davids told SuperSport TV after the match.

“The whole world is going to watch, are they going to give them the game? You don’t want to say that but what was the coach insicuateng, Kwanele Kopo? The entire country will watch with a hawk eyes to be able to see.

“Can they win the game in a proper way? Swallows, are they gonna push for the top eight or someone is gonna sleep at the edge of the box and they score? The entire country is gonna watch these games.

“Relegation fight normally we should be there. I hope it’s a live stream on both games, not like Cape Town Spurs where they show one game. I hope they show both games and we have the hawk eyes on top of it.” “

The Team of Choice mentor stated that he wants to see, if players will be committed to the game and there won’t be any errors leading to the goals on the day.

“Split screen, both games, don’t priorities one, the hawk eyes will be on. Is there somebody sleeping, is the goalkeeper gonna fumble? The pressure is on the Arrows players, I’m sorry to say it, the pressure is on the Swallows players.”
