Davids Slams Medics – iDiski Times

Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids has slammed the medical team who were on call at the Peter Mokoba Stadium after their slow reaction to Paseka Mako’s critical condition.

The Buccaneers player had collided with his own goalkeeper Richard Ofori, whose knee knocked him unconscious during the goalless draw with Baroka.

Pirates players were in tears as they formed a protective circle around their teammate, while the club’s medical team attended help Mako.

However, it took several minutes for the medics who were on call at the Peter Mokoba Stadium to make their way to the pitch to assist the Pirates player.

“The less said about that the better,” a clearly upset Davids told journalists, including iDiski Times Lethabo Kganyago after the match.

“Nobody in the ambulance, we have to find where the drivers are. I don’t know if they were watching the game.

“They have to be on call, they have to be ready. It’s an emergency.

“Credit to our medical team, 10 seconds they were on the field, seeing to Mako.

“But the reaction from the ambulance was not good enough, definitely not good enough for PSL standards.”

Davids, though, did also confirm that Mako had regained his consciousness and was stable on his way to hospital.
