Dave Chappelle takes aim at a popular DJ

American comedian Dave Chappelle performed recently at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Chappelle sent a ballistic tirade aimed at Miami back home, at one DJ Khaled.

WHAT DID DJ KHALED DO TO DAVE?

Chappelle is not one for mincing words, and he was true to form during his set when he called out the producer and hit maker, Khaled, for his continued silence on the crisis in Gaza.

Khaled, a Palestinian American, has been noticeably quiet even though he has been actively releasing music during the conflict.

CHAPPELLE WENT OFF BOOK AND WENT OFF

The celebrated comedian sliced at Khaled with his serrated soliloquy, which had the audience clambering with delight.

“For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now,” Chappelle scoffed.

“And why are you so fat? People are starving. He’s the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now.”

There might not have been a dry eye in the audience, but the subtext of these comments is hard to ignore.

KHALED HAS BEEN SCRUTINISED FOR THIS BY AN ARRAY OF PEOPLE

The masses grow restless with the ‘We The Best’ label owner’s silence around the matter. Activists have lamented this as Khaled has been known to celebrate his heritage proudly and publicly.

KHALED’S COUSIN FEELS LET DOWN

Chappelle is not the only detractor of significance when it comes to this matter.

Towards the top end of this year, Fadie Musallet, Khaled’s cousin, berated this stance publicly.

“There’s no excuse when you’re actually a Palestinian. I put my heart into this,” he said.

Chappelle’s bit has reignited the debate around people with a platform speaking out against this failure of humanity, and despite the humour and body shaming involved, the message was scathing.

DO YOU THINK DJ KHALED SHOULD BE MORE VOCAL ABOUT THE CONFLICT IN GAZA?
