- Some Pretoria residents will experience a planned electricity outage on Sunday, 25 January 2025.
- The City of Tshwane says the 10-hour interruption is necessary to allow repair work on Tower 62 near Denlyn Mall.
- The repairs were previously postponed due to wet weather conditions, with safety cited as a priority.
Some residents in the City of Tshwane have been urged to brace themselves for a day without electricity on Sunday, 25 January 2025.
The City of Tshwane says the planned electricity supply interruption is required to allow technicians from the city’s Energy and Electricity Business Unit to carry out repairs on Tower 62 near Denlyn Mall.
The repairs will lead to a power supply interruption for approximately 10 hours, starting from 08h00 to 18h00.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says the repairs are necessary to prevent further damage to critical electricity infrastructure and to improve network reliability.
“The work was initially planned for Sunday, 21 December 2025, but had to be postponed due to unfavourable wet weather conditions. The city prioritised the safety of technical teams and therefore rescheduled the work,” said Mashigo.
Mashigo apologised profusely for any inconvenience that the planned interruption may cause.
