The family of South African rapper Da L.E.S is asking for help to pay his medical bills after he suffered a stroke.
The 39-year-old hip-hop artist and record producer had a stroke on his birthday, Friday, which led to him missing his celebration party.
Da L.E.S – real name Leslie Mampe – is being treated at a Johannesburg hospital and is reportedly in a stable condition.
His mother, Priscilla Mampe, who came from the US to care for him, appealed for help to pay for his treatment in hospital.
In a post on the artist’s Instagram timeline, the family said, “this remains a challenging time for his loved ones and his family call on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period.”
A close friend of Da L.E.S sent a letter to other friends asking for donations to Priscilla’s bank account, Fakaza news reported.
Artists, including DJ Ankletap, Manu Worldstar, Lalla Hirayama, and many others have posted messages of support for Da L.E.S.
