The DA has removed Renaldo Gouws from the party and Parliament.

The party’s federal legal commission found that he broke several of the party’s rules.

Gouws was suspended in June after a 2010 video surfaced where he used the K-word in a racist comment.

This happened just a few days after he became a DA MP.

DA spokesperson Willie Aucamp said the DA is committed to accountability, non-racialism, and respect for all South Africans.

The South African Human Rights Commission said they will be taking Gouws to the Equality Court for hate speech and racist comments.

Gouws said the social media clip was from when he was a young student in 2009.

He apologised for his past behaviour and admitted he had made mistakes.

“I take full responsibility for the actions of my younger and immature self. For that, I apologise unreservedly,” he said.
