Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs have annnounced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s tantalising MTN8 third quarter-final clash at Athlone Stadium.
City might have played their opening league match at Athlone Stadium but facing Amakhosi there is something new to them, but due to unavailability of DHL stadium there was no choice.
Eric Tinkler’s side are known of doing well in this competition, having reached semi-finals on three occasions in the past six seasons and winning it once.
They are yet to concede this season, as they kept two clean sheets against Polokwane City and Moroka Swallows.
Meanwhile, it’s the opposite for the Ephefeni Glamour Boys, who are yet to taste a victory this season after drawing 0-0 with Chippa United and losing 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs have made it to the semis three times in the past six seasons but haven’t won it. The last time they won it was back in 2014, as their trophy drought now runs for eight years.
Amakhosi have lost the last three fixtures against the Cape Town-based side, while the last time Chiefs beat City in Cape Town was back in January 2021.
