Crime bites: Police looking for family of man killed in Polokwane burglary

Polokwane – Polokwane police are calling on the public to help identify the family of a man shot and killed by an on-duty officer during a business burglary in Suid Street early on Sunday morning. The dead man, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old and only known as Nkosinathi, was caught by police while cutting copper cables at a business premises.

Siyabuswa – A 26-year-old suspect was arrested last week for terrorising members of the community at gunpoint around Siyabuswa A, near Maganaubuswa in Mpumalanga. His firearm was confiscated with one bullet in it. The suspect is set to appear before the Siyabuswa Magistrates’ Court soon.

Musina – Residents of some villages in Niani outside Musina, Limpopo, along the border between South Africa and Zimbabwe, are living in fear following numerous carjackings. Community members say car theft and hijacking have reached alarming levels. They are also complaining about stock theft, which has also increased in recent months.

Bloemfontein – The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit called two suspects, a man, 34, and a woman, 40, to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud and money laundering. The two suspects represented themselves as having the authority to organise taxi permits between December 2015 and July 2019. Several victims interested in becoming taxi owners paid the pair for permits that never arrived.

Parkweg – Detectives from the Parkweg SAPS in Bloemfontein are calling on the public to help locate two missing teenage girls, Alicia Jacobs, 16, and Bernice Bosch, 15. The girls were reported missing on Friday, 2 August. Bernice was last seen wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit pants and white Puma sneakers. Alicia was last seen wearing black trousers, a light blue golf shirt and a navy blue school track top.
