Thohoyandou – A 41-year-old man has been given two life sentences for repeatedly raping his 14-year-old daughter. The man, whose name was withheld to protect the identity of his daughter, had previously been jailed for killing the girl’s mother. He took his daughter from her grandmother’s house and raped her many times between August and December 2021.
Kwaggafontein – Police have arrested a shop owner for raping a 24-year-old woman. The victim was returning from a doctor when the suspect dragged her into his shop and raped her. He was out on bail for previous rape cases. He appeared in the Mkhobola Magistrate’s Court on 20 September.
Malipsdrift – Limpopo police arrested Salita Dessalegn Takale, 32, for trying to bribe police to avoid arrest. He also had an expired asylum-seeker document and illegal cigarettes. He appeared in the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on 26 September and was released on R1,000 bail.
Bloemfontein – Free State police are searching for three men who raped a 65-year-old woman after breaking into her Bergman Square house and demanding money. They stabbed her 15-year-old grandson, who was trying to protect her.
Mankweng – Limpopo police arrested Latta Lekganyane, 28, Tshepo Modau, 27, and Mpho Molefe for stabbing a 47-year-old man near the R71 road. They appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on 25 September, charged with murder. The stabbing happened three days earlier.
