Bethal – The Bethal Regional Court in Mpumalanga sentenced four men on Wednesday for rape and murder. Sunday Sibiya, 26, and Mkhanyiseni Ncamu, 27, were given three life sentences for their crimes, along with extra prison time for other charges. Jaja Lephoto, 20, and Phumlani Masoka, 20, were sentenced to 20 years each. The four were involved in the murder of a 25-year-old Nigerian man and the gang rape of two women, aged 27 and 35, in June 2022.
Bloemfontein – Free State police arrested a 37-year-old man for a house robbery in Bloemspruit. He was found with a stolen gun and other stolen items in Makwane village on 19 August. The man was arrested on Friday, 6 September. He will soon appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.
Sekhukhune – Police in Sekhukhune arrested three men, aged 19 to 23, for possessing a stolen Toyota Aygo from the Motetema area. The suspects appeared in Nebo Magistrate’s Court on charges of car theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Standerton – Workers at a dumpsite made a terrible discovery on Thursday last week when they found a baby’s body in a plastic bag. They found the body shortly after a municipal truck had unloaded waste.
Sekhukhune – Police in Tunatse, Limpopo, are looking for 15-year-old Tetelo William Malatjie. He was last seen on 27 July. He left his home in Bothashoek wearing a sky-blue shirt, blue jersey, and sandals.
East London – Attorney Masixole Bangiso has been arrested for stealing R500,000 from the Road Accident Fund. The money was intended for his client. He appeared in the East London Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was granted R4,000 bail. His next court appearance is on 11 October.
