  • Matlala, along with Musa Kekana and Tiego Floyd Mabusela, remains in custody, with the latter two having been previously denied bail in a separate case.
  • The other four accused will return to court on 7 October 2025 to consolidate two related cases, as the legal proceedings continue.

The bail hearing for Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has been postponed to 2 September 2025. Matlala, who is currently being held at Kgosi Mampuru C-Max prison, is one of five individuals involved in a criminal case that has garnered significant public attention.

The postponement was granted to allow Matlala’s legal team to prepare for the bail application.

While Matlala remains in custody, his wife, Tsakani, has been granted R20,000 bail. She was released along with the daughter of another co-accused.

Meanwhile, Matlala’s alleged accomplices, Musa Kekana and Tiego Floyd Mabusela, will also remain behind bars.

The two were previously denied bail in a separate case in Vereeniging.

The other four co-accused are expected back in court on 7 October 2025. This date has been set to allow for the consolidation of two related cases, aiming to streamline the legal process.
