A police officer and a taxi owner were shot and killed outside the Kagiso Police Station in the West Rand.

The attackers used a high-calibre rifle.

The female police officer and the male taxi owner were sitting in a Ford Figo when they were shot. Both died at the scene.

An eyewitness, who didn’t want to be named, said the attackers used a high-calibre rifle.

The off-duty officer was sitting in the passenger seat. The taxi driver had just been to the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.

After the shooting, the attackers drove away in a blue car without a registration number.

Police quickly arrived, blocked off the area, and began investigating.

The slain taxi owner is said to be one of the 13 taxi owners who were arrested in November 2023 for taxi violence-related crimes.

The crime scene was still active when this report was published.
