Connie Ferguson Takes Couple To Court Over R549,000 Property Debt
Veteran actress and businesswoman Connie Ferguson has approached the Johannesburg High Court seeking to evict a married couple from her Ruimsig property over an alleged debt of R549,302, according to Sunday Times.
According to court papers, Ferguson’s company, Connie Ferguson Trading Enterprise, entered into a sale agreement with Vikar and Trisarnia Maharaj on 28 October 2025. The couple moved into the property on 1 December 2025, agreeing to pay R65,000 monthly in occupational rent, excluding municipal and other charges, while awaiting transfer.
However, Ferguson claims the couple fell behind on payments. In May 2026, they allegedly blamed their financial difficulties on fraud committed by their accountant and requested more time to settle the debt.
Despite making payments totalling R165,000 in May and June, the couple allegedly still owed R549,302 by late August.
Ferguson argues that their continued occupation is causing financial losses and preventing her company from using or selling the property.
The Maharajs filed a notice of intention to oppose the eviction application on 7 October, although their grounds for opposing it have not yet been disclosed.
