Durban City starting 11 line up: Asare, Jalai, Mkhize, Ncanana, Mashego, Nodada, Jurgens, Poggenpoel, Mokwena, Lubumba, Kamatuka.

BETWAY PREMIERSHIP TROPHY COMING TO SOWETO?

Orlando Pirates suddenly find themselves one victory away from completing one of the most dramatic Betway Premiership title turnarounds in recent years after TS Galaxy stunned Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek.

For months, Sundowns looked destined to cruise toward another league crown before Galaxy’s chaotic 3-2 victory completely reopened the race. Now, the Buccaneers head into Saturday’s clash against Durban City at Orlando Stadium knowing they are just 90 minutes away from a first league title since the 2011/12 season.

Orlando Pirates could hardly arrive in better shape. Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches and have built serious momentum at exactly the right time of the campaign. Recent victories over Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC have further strengthened belief inside the squad that the title is finally within touching distance.

ORLANDO PIRATES HAVE ALREADY BEATEN DURBAN CITY

The Sea Robbers will also take confidence from their earlier meeting against Durban City this season. The Soweto giants secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in November through goals from Evidence Makgopa and Patrick Maswanganyi.

Across the campaign, Bucs have suffered only three league defeats while collecting 20 victories, underlining the consistency that has kept pressure on Sundowns throughout the season.

Durban City, meanwhile, arrive in Orlando carrying mixed momentum. While the KwaZulu-Natal outfit recently lifted the 2026 Nedbank Cup after defeating TS Galaxy, their league form has dipped badly in recent weeks.

DURBAN CITY STILL HAVE SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR

The visitors are winless in their last six Betway Premiership matches and were held to a goalless draw by Stellenbosch FC in their latest outing.

However, Durban City still remain in contention for a top-eight finish and could climb as high as sixth place with a positive result.

That combination of cup confidence and league pressure may still make them dangerous opponents despite Bucs entering the encounter as overwhelming favourites.

With Orlando Stadium expected to be packed for one of the club’s biggest domestic matches in over a decade, Orlando Pirates now stand on the edge of finally ending a league drought that has haunted the club for years.
