Confirmed: Davids Leaves Lokomotiv As Well

Fadlu Davids has also left Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow after head coach Josef Zinnbauer was sacked on Saturday.

Davids, 41, had only joined Lokomotiv on 27 September but was seemingly unable to stop the club’s negative trend.

After an initial 5-0 win in the Russian Cup over Khimki, a 4-2 defeat to Ural and another 4-0 loss to Sochi were the last straw for the club’s management, who announced the departures of Zinnbauer and sporting director Thomas Zorn.

Davids was not part of the initial announcement but it has now been confirmed that he also left the club, who has relieved their whole technical team of their duties.

“Fadlu met the GM with all the staff brought in by him. The entire technical team parted ways amicably with the club, so the existing technical team has since left the club. With the entire re-structuring of the club now taking place,” Davids’ agent, Rasthoem Simons said via a statement.

Davids’ short stint in Russia follow his three years with Orlando Pirates, initially as assistant coach before working as co-head coach alongside Mandla Ncikazi in the 2021/22 season.
