Royal AM coach John Maduka is struggling to improve his team because of Fifa’s transfer ban.
The KwaZulu-Natal club has now gone through three transfer windows without being able to sign new players.
This ban is due to problems with contracts involving striker Samir Nurkovic, now with TS Galaxy, and Brazilian defender Richardo Nascimento.
The club can only sign new players if they pay what they owe these players.
Royal AM has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to lift the Fifa ban.
Maduka has brought in players from the reserve team for the 2024-25 PSL season, but they aren’t filling all the gaps.
“As much as we have young players, we need a striker who can finish when the chances come and score goals. We also need a strong midfielder and an experienced defender,” Maduka told Soccer Laduma.
While dealing with the transfer ban, Royal AM has also lost several experienced players.
This season, they’ve let go of Menzi Masuku, Ruzaigh Gamildien, and Thato Lingwati.
Last season, they lost key players like Shaune Mogaila, Tebogo Potsane, Happy Jele, and others.
