Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Daylon Claasen has completed his move from Maritzburg United to Egypt, iDiski Times can confirm.

Maritzburg United recently parted ways with the experienced midfielder, who spent the last three seasons with the Team of Choice.

The 32-year-old opted once again to try a new adventure, joining Egyptian First Division side, Wadi Degla and iDiskiTimes has learned that Classen put pen to paper on a one-year-deal.

The industrious midfielder was thankful to his former teammates and club for giving him the opportunity when he came back from Europe.

“I would like to say thank you to Maritzburg United for giving me the opportunity. Also thank you to my teammates,” he told iDiski Times.

A former Ajax Cape Town and Ajax Amsterdam youth player, Claasen spent almost a decade in Europe playing for clubs like 1860 Munchen, Lech Poznan and Lierse.

It is his connection with Lierse that is believed to have led to this move to Egypt for the 32-year- old as the Belgian club and Wadi Degla are owned by the same company.
