As Cape Town City prepare to host Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening game of the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership season, the club have announced the promotion of a young striker to their first team.
Luke Daniels is the player in question, and the young forward has been handed his chance after impressing Eric Tinkler and his technical team.
Daniels has been training on-and-off with the first team since the start of 2022, and was impressive while City were on pre-season tour in KwaZulu-Natal, scoring in friendlies.
The former Kuils River FC footballer will now hope to make an impression at the highest level.
“There’s certain things that we as coaches can teach, but there are others that we can’t,” Tinkler said about the young player in the club’s video announcement.
“And instinct is something you can’t really teach. That’s got to be natural, you got to have that. And he has that.
“He shows a lot of composure, his timing is exceptional, also a very humble kid. That’s rare to find players like that.”
