DJ Chymamusique turned Hartbeespoort Dam into a scene of celebration and gratitude as he marked 16 years in the music industry with a star-studded event that doubled as a powerful statement of survival.

The milestone gathering attracted fans from across the province and featured performances from heavyweights including Kabza De Small, Bucie Nkomo, Morda and King Monada.

The lineup underscored the respect Chymamusique commands within the industry, with peers showing up not just to perform, but to honour his journey.

The celebration carried deeper meaning following the horrific car accident he survived months ago.

The crash left him with severe injuries and required brain surgery, sparking widespread concern among fans and fellow artists at the time. Messages of support flooded social media as many waited anxiously for updates on his recovery.

Taking to the stage over the weekend, the DJ appeared visibly emotional as he reflected on his path, from his early days behind the decks to becoming one of the country’s recognised hitmakers.

His return was more than a performance; it symbolised resilience and a second chance at life.

After the event, he shared his gratitude on Facebook, posting highlights from the night.

“Surprise act, legendary @bucie_nkomo killed it. Celebrated 16 years of musique and 35 years of life with cool people and giants yesterday. Wholesome by Ecue lunch and chillas,” he wrote.

Attendees described the atmosphere as electric and deeply inspiring, with social media flooded by clips capturing the energy against the scenic dam backdrop.
