Kaizer Chiefs clinched the third-place playoffs by beating AmaZulu 4-2 in a straight penalty shootout at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Wandile Dube scored the all-important spot-kick for Chiefs to see Amakhosi finish third in the competition.

Other penalties scored by Amakhosi were scored by Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Reeve Frosler and Bruce Bvuma.

Zitha Kwinika saw his saved by Veli Mothwa.

For Usuthu, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Makhehleni Makhaula all scored, but Ethan Brooks saw his save while Larry Bwalwa was widely hit to go out, leaving Duba to ensure Chiefs’ win.

These two clubs entered the playoffs after they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs earlier on respectively.

Chiefs lost 6-5 on penalties in the semi-final later in the day to Orlando Pirates. For Usuthu, they were crushed 3-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns, who were no match as they were so slick and won 3-0 in theirs.

It could have been more for Sundowns, but they were wasteful in front of the goals, especially rising star Cassius Mailula.

Pirates will face Sundowns in the final at the same venue at 5 pm.
