Chiefs & Sundowns Starting XIs Announced

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have announced their starting XIs for their DStv Premiership clash.

Amakhosi will host the newly crowned champions at the FNB Stadium, with many expecting them to give Masandawana a Guard of Honour after their secured their fifth successive league title.

The Glamour Boys themselves need a win to keep their slim hopes of qualifying for the CAF Champions League alive.

Cape Town City went six points ahead of Chiefs after beating TS Galaxy on Saturday, and anything but a win against Downs would end the hosts’ hopes of CAFCL football next season.

Downs, meanwhile, are still chasing their own targets, with Manqoba Mngqithi confirming they want to finish with more 67 points – currently sitting on 61, the 2021/22 DStv Premiership champions could reach 70 points should they win their last three matches.

In addition, Peter Shalulile is also still chasing the long-standing scoring record of Collins Mbesuma, who finished the 2004/05 league campaign with 25 goals.

Shalulile sits three strikes behind him with three games to go.

Another talking point ahead of the game were Mngqithi’s comments of wanting to take over the Calabash, urging the Yellow Nation to outnumber the hosts at the FNB Stadium.

Here is how they line up:

Kaizer Chiefs: Bvuma, Ngezana, Mphahlele, Blom, Frosler, Alexander, Nange, Kambole, Castro, Dolly, Billiat.

Sub: Akpeyi, Parker, Nurkovic, Agay, Mashiane, Mabiliso, Sekgota, Radebe.
