Kaizer Chiefs’ red-hot striker Flavio da Silva has been compared to Nigerian star Victor Osimhen after earning his first Guinea-Bissau national team call-up.

After hitting four goals in his last five games, the 29-year-old has been included in the Guinea-Bissau squad to face Angola this week.

KAIZER CHIEFS STRIKER FLAVIO SILVA SIMILAR TO VICTOR OSIMHEN

Silva’s call-up has done nothing to surprise his countryman and national team star Burá Nogueira, who says he’s been watching the Amakhosi striker closely , and even likens him to one of Africa’s biggest names.

“For me, Flavio is like Victor Osimhen in the way he plays because I have seen both of them playing,” Nogueira told KickOff.com from Maputo, where he turns out for CD Costa do Sol.

Nogueira revealed that his relationship with the Chiefs star goes back to their training sessions together in Portugal during the 2023 off-season. “I have trained with him during my vacation in Portugal and so I know,” he said. “His character aligns with his abilities as a footballer; he is a good person and a good player.”

TIPPED FOR SUCCESS IN GUINEA-BISSAU COLOURS

The midfielder, who has captained Guinea-Bissau on several occasions, believes the Amakhosi striker will fit in naturally when he joins the squad for the friendly against Angola. “Flavio is going to be welcome in the national team,” he added. “I know that he is playing for a good team, and now we’ll be together for the first time in the national side.”
