Kaizer Chiefs have released midfielder Cole Alexander after both parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract.

Alexander, 33, joined Chiefs from Indian side Odisha under Stuart Baxter in July 2021.

He’s made 28 appearances over the past two seasons, scoring once but only featured seven times under Arthur Zwane in 2022/23.

This year, he has only made one appearance, featuring in a 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United.

Alexander, who won the MTN8 with SuperSport United in 2017/18, still had a year left on his Amakhosi deal but both sides agreed to mutually part ways.

He is now being linked with a move to Matsatsantsa, where he could reunite with his former coach Gavin Hunt, having featured 73 times under him between 2018 and 2020 before the club was sold.
