Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has confirmed Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro both suffered hamstring injuries in the Soweto Derby win over Orlando Pirates.
Billiat and Castro were forced off the pitch on either side of the opening 45 minutes which visibly worried the technical team as the club finally looked to be heading to a clean bill of health.
And Baxter confirmed the concern was due to both suffering hamstrings blows, someKaizthing that should be eradicated with the modern technology and training techniques they have implemented at Amakhosi.
“Both of those injuries are very disappointing because you know when you work at an elite club, your biggest enemies are soft tissue injuries,” Baxter explained.
“The reason they’re the biggest enemies, they are more or less been put out of business now because of our training methods. But we have two players in one game that both get hamstring strains. It’s something not right with our loading.
“So both of them have hamstring injuries, that there is in time they’re out but I’m guessing they won’t train for a week at least. Leo’s is a bit worse because it pinged, Khama’s was getting worse and stretched but I think we got him off in time.”
Chiefs’ next challenge in the league is Golden Arrows at home on Saturday, 19 March – before only facing Chippa United in the first week of April.
