Chiefs Make Major Announcement – iDiski Times

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has secured a new role with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The announcement was made at a special media event at Naturena Village on Wednesday morning just after their 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Jessica, the eldest daughter of club founder Kaizer Motoung, has long been lauded for her exploits in the role, with the Glamour Boys being one of the biggest brands on the continent.

And her efforts have now been rewarded with a role to grow football on the entire continent, with CAF headhunting her talents as a marquee addition for their current and future plans.

Chiefs confirmed on Wednesday that Jessica Motaung will be part of the CAF Organising Committee for Women Football Standing Committee from 2022-2024.

“It’s an honour and privilege to be here,” Motaung said at the Village this morning.

“Women’s football is growing internationally. We’ve seen efforts by FIFA but also CAF to make sure they have set up strategic committees that are looking into, not just the development of the game but also the commercialisation.

“We have a Women’s World Cup coming in Australia and FIFA announced it will actually have it’s own stand-alone sponsors, so it’s a very important time in the women’s game.

“It’s such an honour to be part of a committee to make sure that African women’s football grows. So I’m very excited to be part of that committee.”

Kaizer Chiefs Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Mphaso stated how proud the club are about the appoint of Jessica Motaung.

“As the club we are grateful that we’ve received this appointment and confirmation via the CAF secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba and we have of course accepted the invite,” he explained during a media briefing.

“Jessica, we thank you very much for accepting this monumental task of leading Women football on the continent.

“As you all know, we are excited about the appointment, but it goes further than that. The local league, the Premiership will be grateful to have someone who is serving at that level of CAF.

“SAFA as well, with the women football taking shape, with the leagues becoming more and more professional, in line with CAF growing women’s football on the continent and FIFA will be watching the space as well.”
