Kaizer Chiefs are back at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein for another showdown against Marumo Gallants on Sunday.
After opening their 2024/25 Premier Soccer League campaign against Bahlabane ba Ntwa at the same venue on 14 September, the Soweto giants are in the City of Roses once more.
They clash with Gallants in the Cultural Urban Festival Africa (Cufa Cup), match which they are taking as a friendly game.
They were last in action on 28 September when they lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premier Soccer League match at FNB Stadium.
With last weekend dedicated to the MTN8 final and now the ongoing international break, Chiefs will look to stay in shape against Gallants.
“We are really looking forward to coming back to Bloemfontein for a third time in 10 weeks,” said Chiefs midfielder Tebogo Potsane who used to play for Bloemfontein Celtic.
“We played in front of capacity crowds against Young Africans on 28 July in the Toyota Cup and faced Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on 14 September, and supporters did not disappoint again when they filled up the Toyota stadium once more.”
“We know people of Mangaung love football, and we look forward to another sold-out crowd when we return on 13 October.”
At the Cufa Cup, they will be without defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe who is captaining Botswana in back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde.
Amakhosi are also missing central midfielder Edson Castillo who is on national team duty with Venezuela for the Conmebol World Cup qualifier against world champions Argentina.
Centre-back Rushwin Dortley is in the Bafana Bafana camp and played 90 minutes in the 5-0 demolition of Congo-Brazzaville on Friday.
The Glamour Boys goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi is assisting Mauritania in their assignments against Egypt.
After the Cufa Cup, Chiefs return to competitive action and face SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Last-16 at Peyer Mokaba Stadium on 19 October.
