Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed five absentees with injuries ahead of their friendly match against Young Africans SC on Saturday.
Amakhosi fans have reason to be excited as the Glamour Boys will play their first official friendly match on Saturday.
They have been invited to the Ya Mwananchi event against double-treble winners Yanga at Mkapa Stadium.
New head coach Molefi Ntseki has named six new signings in his starting XI, but couldn’t count on the services of Ranga Chivaviro, who is one of five players sidelined with “niggling injuries”.
“A number of key players will not take part in today’s international friendly against Young Africans SC due to an assortment of niggling injuries,” the club stated.
“They are Keagan Dolly, Happy Mashiane, Wandile Duba, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez.”
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has explained the importance of Chiefs’ two African friendlies, with Amakhosi facing Township Rollers in Botswana next week Saturday.
“With the league set to get underway in a fortnight’s time, we view this tour involving matches against quality opposition as a valuable opportunity to get the boys match-ready for the start of the season,” Kaizer Jr. stated.
“We intend to hit the ground running in our opening fixture against Chippa and establish forward momentum from the word ‘go’.”
Chiefs open their 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign against Chippa United on 6 August at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
