Kaizer Chiefs Diski Challenge coach Vela Khumalo made a bold statement after his side beat Stellenbosch FC in the final of the Diski Shield.

Amakhosi secured their second DStv Diski Shield title after beating DStv Diski Challenge champions Stellenbosch 2-0 in Saturday’s final, lifting the trophy for a second time after 2018 under then-coach Arthur Zwane.

This year, Khumalo has stepped in the foot steps of ‘10111’ on the sidelines and he was very pleased with his team’s performance.

“It was a good game and I’m happy that the trophy is back at the Chiefs Village. We tried our best and I’m sure everyone can see that we are cooking something that will be a delight to watch in the future,” he said, as Chiefs’ website.

Khumalo also insisted that he feels several players from his class of 2022 will be able to break into the first team at Naturena.

“Like I indicated before this is just a synopsis of what we are busy cooking and I think we are reaching that too soon and too quick,” he told SuperSport TV after the match.

“My boys I’m very happy, excited my lads did well and there’s too much talent on these boys. At the age they are, they’re still at school, they now need to change and start thinking about the projects, the assignment for tomorrow. It’s too much on them, they are surviving because of the talent they have.

“What I’m trying to say here is that we need to cook more. In the next two years we are not going to buy. These players will be ready for PSL. We want to dominate PSL with these boys.”
