Chiefs Coach Raves About ‘Obrigado’

Kaizer Chiefs teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi has received praise from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge head coach Vela Khumalo after his late winner against TS Galaxy.

The playmaker netted a stoppage-time goal to secure the victory over the Rockets this weekend which once again highlighted his precocious talent since going viral for his displays in the Philly’s Games in Tembisa in December.

Chiefs roped him into the DDC set-up and since scoring on his debut, he’s made great strides within the club’s development system.

“Look at Mfundo, he’s 15 years old, and he creates a goal out of nothing. He took on players, dribbled past them and he gave us what we wanted, which was a win,” Khumalo told the club’s website before addressing rumours that he was ‘banished’ from the squad

“We need to manage him – he is a young boy and very disciplined. I am not entertaining the social media talk about him.

“He’s at school and is part of the academy at the moment. As a player, he will grow and we will help him to minimise mistakes most importantly.”

Chiefs are currently sixth in the reserve league, 15 points behind league leaders Orlando Pirates with 10 rounds of fixtures remaining.
