Kaizer Chiefs-bound Zitha Kwinika was the big winner at the Stellenbosch FC end-of-season awards on Tuesday, as he walked away with the club’s Players’ Player of the Season and Footballer of The Season awards.
The 28-year-old will play his 57th and final game for Stellies on Saturday against Cape Town City before heading back to the club where his career began, having agreed to join Chiefs for the 2022/2023 season.
But before leaving, Stellies honoured Kwinika, who has been a standout player for Steve Barker’s team for the two seasons he played in the Cape Winelands.
Other winners on the night were IbraheemJabaar, the club’s Young Player of the Season, and RafiqDeGoede, who won the Sportsman of the Year award.
AshleyDuPreez won the Goalscorer of the Year for his nine goals, but was joined on stage by JudasMoseamedi, who is on six goals (but Moseamedi would need to score a hat trick against his former team in their final game to share the award).
Diski Challenge (and first-team assistant) coach EvangelosVellios was honoured with the CEO’s Award for his contribution to the club.
