Chiefs begin CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Red Arrows

Kaizer Chiefs begin their quest for continental glory when they face Zambian side Red Arrows in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday, 17 October.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm South African time.

Amakhosi enter the competition at this stage after receiving a bye in the first preliminary round because of their CAF ranking. They will be eager to secure a positive result away from home before the decisive return leg in South Africa.

Red Arrows, meanwhile, earned their place in the second preliminary round after overcoming Madagascar’s FC Rouge in the opening round.

The Zambian outfit will be determined to take advantage of home conditions and put pressure on the visitors ahead of the return encounter.

Chiefs are familiar with Zambian opposition, having faced Zesco United during last season’s Confederation Cup group stages. Amakhosi recorded 1-0 victories in both encounters.

The Soweto giants will be hoping to carry that experience into Saturday’s match as they target a place in the group stages.

The second leg will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday, 23 October, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

The aggregate winner over the two legs will advance to the group stages, bringing the club one step closer to competing for continental honours.

Chiefs will also be determined to improve on last season’s campaign, when they narrowly missed qualification for the knockout stages on goal difference.

The 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup champions stand to receive US$4 million in prize money, providing further motivation for the participating clubs.

For Chiefs, the immediate task is clear: secure a favourable result in Zambia and finish the job in Durban to keep their continental ambitions alive.
